Lighting the Way Exhibition - in person & online
My new exhibition 250 Years of the Presentation Sisters: Lighting the Way was launched on Culture Night in Nano Nagle Place in Cork. The exhibition traces the remarkable of the Presentation Sisters that began in Cork in 1775 and ultimately circumnavigated the globe. It explores the people, places and stories that have shaped and continue to shape the Presentation mission.
Travel is the thread that runs through this exhibition. From sailing ships and steam trains to buses, bicycles and aircraft, generations of Sisters crossed continents to respond to the needs of local communities.
Their journeys took them to places impacted by war, poverty and natural disasters. Each mission was different, but all reflected Nano Nagle’s commitment to serving those most in need.
The exhibition combines historical records with personal stories to show not only where the Sisters travelled, but how they adapted to new cultures and changing circumstances over more than two centuries.
The exhibition itself is in Cork but there is a companion exhibition that is online. Click on the link below for to read some remarkable stories and see some fantastic photos: Lighting the Way
